Vluemi LLC (“Vluemi”, “we”, “us”) runs this website so that you can join the waitlist for Vluemi, a learning-planning product for families, before it launches. This policy explains what information the site collects, what we do with it, who else touches it, and the choices and rights you have. We have kept it short because the site does very little.

Who this covers

This policy covers vluemi.com as it exists today: the waitlist page, the signup form, and the emails we send to people on the list. It does not cover the Vluemi product itself, which is not yet available. When the product launches it will have its own privacy policy, and we will send that policy to everyone on the list before your account or any student information is involved.

What we collect

Information you give us. One thing: your email address, when you type it into the form and submit it. The form asks for nothing else, and nothing else is required.

Information created when you sign up.

  • The date and time you joined.
  • Your position in the queue.
  • A referral code of your own, which you may share, and a count of how many people joined through it.
  • If you arrived through someone else’s link, the code that referred you, so that we can credit them.
  • The web address of the page you signed up from (this is how the referral code is read).

Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for every request: the IP address it came from, the browser and device type, the page requested, and the time. These logs exist for security, abuse prevention and reliability, and we do not combine them with your email address.

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, payment details, or any information about your children. We do not run analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies on this site.

How we use it

  • To invite you. When it is your turn, we email you an invitation to Vluemi.
  • To keep you informed before launch. Occasional updates about what we are building and when it is coming. We mean a handful of emails in total, not a newsletter.
  • To run the queue. Keeping places in order, crediting referrals, and removing addresses that bounce or unsubscribe.
  • To answer you. If you write to us, we use your address to reply.
  • To keep the site working and safe. Server logs help us spot abuse and fix problems.

We do not sell your email address, rent it, trade it, or use it to build advertising profiles. We do not add it to any list other than this one.

Our legal bases

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or another place whose law asks us to name a legal basis, here they are:

  • Consent, for adding you to the list and emailing you about Vluemi. You give it by submitting the form, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
  • Legitimate interests, for running the queue, crediting referrals, keeping server logs, and protecting the site from abuse. These interests do not override your own, because the data involved is minimal and used only for the purposes above.
  • Legal obligation, in the rare case that a law requires us to keep or disclose a record.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts that limit what they can do with it:

  • GetWaitlist, which stores the list and sends the emails. See its privacy policy.
  • Our hosting provider, which serves the website and keeps the server logs described above.

Beyond these, we disclose personal information only if the law requires it, to protect the rights or safety of Vluemi or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the company, in which case this policy would continue to apply to the information transferred. We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers or social networks.

Where it is stored

Vluemi is based in the United States, and our providers store the list on servers in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your information is transferred there. Where the law requires it, we rely on our providers’ standard contractual safeguards for that transfer. You can ask us about them at the address below.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address and the related queue information until one of these happens, whichever comes first:

  • You unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • Your invitation has been sent and acted on, at which point the product’s own policy takes over.
  • Twelve months pass after Vluemi launches without you accepting an invitation, after which we delete the list.

Server logs are kept for a short, rolling period by our hosting provider, typically no more than 30 days.

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS, so your address is encrypted on its way to us. The form is handled by our own server before anything is sent to GetWaitlist, which lets us validate submissions and filter out automated signups. Access to the list is limited to the people at Vluemi who run it. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but the amount of information involved here is small, and we keep it that way on purpose.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Using it removes you from the list.
  • Delete. Email hello@vluemi.com from the address you joined with and ask us to delete it. We will, usually within a few days, and we will confirm when it is done.
  • Referrals. Sharing your link is optional. If you never share it, nothing about referrals applies to you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, the law may give you the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
  • Have it corrected if it is wrong.
  • Have it deleted.
  • Object to, or restrict, how we use it.
  • Withdraw consent you have given, without affecting what happened before.
  • Receive it in a portable format.
  • Complain to a supervisory authority.

We extend these rights to everyone on the list, wherever you are. To use them, email hello@vluemi.com. We may ask you to confirm the request from the address in question, which is how we verify it. We will not treat you differently for exercising a right.

California. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, the information we collect falls into the categories “identifiers” (your email address) and “internet activity” (server logs), for the purposes described above. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of sale or sharing, which, since we do neither, requires no change on our part.

Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states. Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws have the rights listed above. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond to the appeal in writing.

EEA, UK and Switzerland. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising technology. The one browser-stored item it may use is a short-lived technical value our hosting platform needs to serve the page, which identifies nothing about you. Because we do not track visitors, there is nothing for a “Do Not Track” signal to turn off.

Children

Vluemi is built for parents and educators. This waitlist is for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where the law sets a higher age). If you believe a child has joined the list, tell us at hello@vluemi.com and we will remove the address promptly. The product’s own policy will address students’ information when the product launches.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The effective date at the top tells you when it last changed. If a change affects how we use the information you have already given us, we will email the list before it takes effect.
